About the Club

The Camera Club was founded in 1962 and is currently a thriving and expanding photographic club. Around 25 to 30 members attend our weekly meetings. The club name was changed to Stafford Camera Club at it's AGM held on 30th April 2013, having formerly been known as St Leonards Camera Club.

The Camera Club meets in the premises of County Staff Club, 77 Eastgate Street, Stafford, ST16 2NG. Refreshments are available from the bar. The nearest public car park is in North Walls or nearby street parking may be available if a suitable space can be located.

The aim of the club is to promote its members enjoyment of photography and improve their knowledge and skills in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. New members are very welcome regardless of their level of ability.

The club's programme of weekly meetings runs from September through to May each year with a break during the summer months. The varied programme includes visiting speakers, practical demonstrations (e.g. Photoshop), photo competitions, social evening and club trips, exhibitions, etc.

The club meets on Tuesday nights during the season starting at 8.00 pm and finishing around 10 pm.

Display screen calibration equipment (X-Rite i1) is available for members use on a free-of-charge loan basis.

The current membership fee is £25 per season plus £2 door fee each evening attended. Non-members who are club visitors pay £3 per evening attendance. Under 18s pay £1.50 per evening and need to be accompanied by an appropriate adult.

Potential new members may wish to initially attend the club as a visitor for two or three Tuesday evenings (at a cost of £3 per attendance) before deciding whether they wish to join the club and pay the annual fee.

Why Become a Member?

Becoming a member would enable you to meet like-minded people who enjoy photography and to listen to speakers on a range of photographic subjects. You would receive helpful and useful advice on how to improve your photographic skills and knowledge, use of Photoshop, etc.

You could enter your images into our club competitions and have them assessed and commented on by experienced judges. If competitions are not your forte, then watching the competitions and listening to the judges comments is a great way to learn and get some hints on how to improve your images.

We have a diverse programme of workshops and trips where everybody enjoys a friendly and supportive atmosphere

We have full public liability insurance cover whilst members and visitors are on the club premises.

The club is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through the Midlands Counties Photographic Federation.
